Programme | Year 1

In the early part of year 1 the focus will be on developing core skills and a sense of cohort amongst the new starters and between the student intakes which is kick-started by our annual team building weekend. More specific details about the modules that students will undertake can be seen under ‘schematic’.  Modules are not assessed by way of written exams but students are expected to produce reports, oral presentations and/or posters as the end of each module as appropriate and progression through the first year will be assessed by a series of vivas. 

At the end of year 1, those students that have been awarded an EPSRC/MRC studentship and have successfully completed the first year will select a PhD project and be transferred to the appropriate host University.
