New AI guidance and ‘Principles for Everyone’ now available

We are pleased to share the initial release of our website, AI Guidelines at º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ, which outlines the responsible use of generative artificial intelligence (Gen-AI) across the University.

These principles are designed for everyone, offering a foundation for using Gen-AI responsibly across different roles and activities.

The principles are:

  • Be a data custodian: You are responsible for knowing when the data you provide to AI services requires protection, ensuring its appropriate use and safeguarding as needed.
  • Be transparent and accountable: Inform others about AI involvement and ensure its outputs are appropriate and accurate before use.
  • Be aware of limits and capabilities: Understand both the potential and the boundaries of AI to navigate its use effectively and responsibly.
  • Be curious: AI is constantly developing, so staying informed is key. Cultivating curiosity will help you navigate developments and opportunities with confidence and adaptability.

This guidance is a starting point for responsible AI use and will continue to evolve over time. The first draft of the guidance is now available AI Guidance at Loughborough.

We encourage you to check back regularly for updates and provide feedback to help shape future developments by contacting John Houghton, Organisational Development and Change Advisor.
