I’m a first year PhD student in criminology with a background studying Social Inequalities including: refugee status and statelessness, health inequalities, intersectionality, inequalities for transgender men, and issues in the sex-work industry.
Beyond this, my passion is working with offenders and my MSc thesis focused on practitioner views and experiences of coercive control. Since then, I have been volunteering with young offenders and working on my PhD which focuses on LGBTQ+ offenders of coercive abuse and looks to find insights into appropriate rehabilitation methods for this offender profile.Exploring LGBT+ Perpetrator’s Experiences and Perspectives of Coercive Control

Anna is currently in the R1 stage of her PhD where she is performing a qualitative research study that looks at coercive control through the eyes of the offender. Specifically focusing on LGBTQ+ offenders, she hopes to bring value to the field of research by gathering data from an otherwise overlooked demographic. This will provide insight into creating more inclusive and productive prevention plans and rehabilitation programmes that are open to a larger pool of people.
