Even though violence is widely assumed to be effective as a "regrettable but sometimes necessary" means to achieve political objectives, there is mounting evidence that calls this assumption into question.
The serious arguments put forward by advocates of pacifism and nonviolence remain underexamined. But this is starting to change as a growing literature is giving serious attention to pacifism and nonviolence. The launch of the new Journal of Pacifism and Nonviolence will provide literature dedicated to the topic.
Senior Lecturer in Politics and International Relations, Dr Alex Christoyannopoulos is Editor in Chief for the Journal of Pacifism and Nonviolence. He said “This is a really exciting project. The journal will fill a gap in the academic landscape. The editorial team and myself cannot wait to read the papers that will be sent to us for consideration."
In 2023, individuals will become eligible for a limited promotional period of free access to the Journal of Pacifism and Nonviolence. Please be sure to revisit this page to take advantage of this offer. The online platform for prospective authors is now ready to accept manuscripts and the editorial board are also open to considering Special Issue proposals.
To accompany the launch, º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ Institute of Advanced Studies are hosting a Spotlight Series which will explore some of the salient questions in this emerging literature with a series of hybrid seminars in April, June and September.
Registration for these is open here. Please do not hesitate to circulate this announcement across your networks.
