Sophie Bowlby is based in the Department of Geography and Environmental Science, University of Reading. She has a strong connection to º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ’s Children, Youth and Families research theme, having worked with Professor Louise Holt on an ESRC funded project on ‘Children's embodied social capital and (dis)ability: connecting micro- and macro- scales of exclusion/inclusion’. Sophie’s research interests are in feminist social and economic geography of urban areas, with particular expertise in the relationships between home and paid work. This includes topics such as access and mobility, retailing and shopping, racialised gendering and employment, caring obligations, and friendship, mobilities and social inclusion.
