Congratulations to Dr Heike Jöns and Dr Michiel van Meeteren who were elected as Chair and Communications Officer of the History and Philosophy of Geography Research Group respectively, and Dr Sophie Cranston who was elected as Secretary of the Population Geography Research Group.
º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ GYE was well-represented at the RGS-IBG Annual Conference in Cardiff last month, with 8 papers, 12 sessions, and involvement as panellists in two sessions and discussant in another.
Furthermore, Dr Sophie Cranston co-organised a pre-conference event at the RGS-IBG Annual Conference on Austerity Politics and the Changing Landscape of Inequalities. The event brought together academics and policymakers (as well as including a film screening) to discuss the differential impact of austerity in the UK, how academics explore this, and how policymakers and NGOs respond to it. Sophie co-organised the event as part of her previous role as Events Officer for the RGS-IBG Population Geography Research Group in conjunction with the Social and Cultural Geography Research Group.
