At the ceremony on 17th May, Max was presented with his award by Prince Edward, and is pictured with the TV presenter Chris Bavin.
Max explained “To achieve my Duke of Edinburgh Gold Award I volunteered as an assistant coach for 12 months at a children’s athletics club. I also competed for my local athletics club in both regional and county championships for my sport and finally I developed a skill for 12 months as well. Following this I completed my gold expedition in Snowdonia which was challenging as the weather conditions were harsh for both the practise and assessed expedition but was more than worth it for the sense of achievement afterwards”.
“For me, the Duke of Edinburgh Award has been an amazing experience and has helped me develop important life skills such as dedication, team work and selflessness. I highly recommend the Duke of Edinburgh Gold Award as it continues to help me in later life and through it I have made lifelong friends and memories.”
