On Friday last week, Dr Andrew Pledger was invited to present at the Angling Trust and Institute of Fisheries Management “Otter Predation Workshop”.
The talk was titled “Can Habitat quality influence predation risk?”. This invitation came as recognition to Andrew for his expertise in fish-ecology. Dr Andrew Pledger presented his findings from an experiment which quantified the impacts of sand content in spawning gravels on Barbel Barbus barbus larval emergence. This experiment was performed at the Environment Agency’s hatchery in Calverton, Nottinghamshire, in collaboration with ߲Ƶ academic Professor Stephen Rice and Bournemouth University academics Dr Tea Basic and Professor Rob Britton.
