Inaugural Lecture: Professor Ed Brown

º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ this event

Sustainable energy for all? 30 years in development research.

Over recent years Professor Ed Brown has gone from being a critical observer of development interventions to actively leading multi-million research programmes that have the potential to secure significant real-world impacts.

In this lecture, he will discuss what thirty years of research at º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ has taught him about development, including his research on radical alternatives to Neoliberalism in Latin America, debates on the nature of corruption and effective governance and the politics of low carbon energy with the LCEDN (http://www.lcedn.com).

He will also discuss the development of a major new DFID-funded programme on the transition to clean cooking – the Modern Energy Cooking Services programme (http://www.mecs.org.uk). This final section of the lecture reflects on the key challenges faced in the delivery of the programme and how they are being addressed.
