Erik is the Marshall and Sharleen Formby Regents Professor of Strategic Communication in the College of Media and Communication at Texas Tech University. He teaches and conducts research on misinformation, news literacy, visual and nonverbal communication, and public opinion about the press.
For the 2023-24 academic year, Bucy will be working at º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ as a US-UK Fulbright Scholar and Fellow of the Institute of Advanced Studies. His research project, on press crisis, news performance, and democratic resilience, is a book length study of media accountability and news evaluation at peak moments of press scrutiny.
He is the coauthor of Image Bite Politics: News and the Visual Framing of Elections (with Maria Elizabeth Grabe) and past editor of Politics and the Life Sciences, an interdisciplinary journal published by Cambridge University Press.
