Success for Communication and Media student as they are named LU Arts’ 2019-20 scholar

An event held earlier this week celebrated this year’s recipients of the LU Arts’ scholarships.

Congratulations to our Communication and Media student Aisha Aldris who has been awarded one of the ten available prestigious scholarships.

As a result of being named scholars for this academic year, the students have received a £200 cash prize and a tailored package of tuition and mentoring to develop their skills and knowledge further.

The scheme will also provide them with the opportunity to showcase their talent through University events.

They met with the University’s Vice-Chancellor Professor Robert Allison and the LU Arts team on Wednesday (20 November), who spoke with them about their talents and his hopes and ambitions for them throughout the year.

Music is a big part of my life. Singing, performing and being an avid listener of many genres forms a huge part of my self expression. Since coming to º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ, I have performed at many musical events including Freefest, Black History Month Carnivals, International Women's Day Carnivals, LU Arts Acoustic Nights and the LSU International Showcases. Next up will be º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ’s Got Talent! I have always loved being able to express myself musically. Combined with my love for writing, I took to songwriting in 2015 and have practised it ever since. I also release covers which have been noticed by the likes of Little Mix, Nadine Coyle, Adam Saleh and 20th Century Fox’s The Greatest Showman. As Head of Entertainment at LSUTV I produce music shows including Coffee House Sessions and, our upcoming release, Vibe Box. I'm looking forward to the year ahead as an LU Arts scholar!
