Switched on: 100 years of broadcast innovation
The Science Museum Group are hosting a series of events and exhibitions for ‘Broadcast 100’, taking place throughout 2022 at a range of Science Museum sites in Manchester, London and Bradford in collaboration with the BBC to celebrate the hundredth anniversary of broadcasting.
Bradford’s exhibition, ‘Switched On,’ is the largest exhibition in the series telling the story of the first hundred years. The exhibition looks at different broadcasters, the move from television to streaming, and celebrates some of the key pioneers involved in the development of the medium. There’s also lots of digital content alongside the exhibition, including posts on Tuning into Childhood, Television and Radio in the Second World War and International Women’s Day all written by PhD student, Natasha Kitcher. Natasha is a Doctoral Researcher at º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ and BT Archives writing the history of the Electrophone in England 1893 - 1938.
The exhibition opened in July 2022 and will remain open until January 2023. Tickets are available to book online and can be accessed via the links below.
