Why did you choose to study Media and Communication at º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ?
When I was first looking for universities offering this course, º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ was already well-ranked for Media and Communication. It was easy to understand why as soon as I started the course guided by all the established professors that we had the privilege of learning from.
What did you enjoy about your course?
The variety of styles that we got to experience with different professors definitely left a lasting mark. It moulded us into more adaptable students and broadened our learning horizons.
How has º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ inspired you and helped you to progress in your career?
º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ is pretty much a second home for me, even till this day. I am based in my home country, Malaysia, but I do try to visit as often as I can. In fact, I was just back there last year and had the pleasure of catching up with Professor Sabina Mihelj, who gave the welcome speech on our first day as Media and Communication students.
Would there be one piece of advice that you would give to current or prospective students looking to study Media and Communication?
Do it.
Can you tell us about your career journey so far?
Shortly after graduation, I started what turned out to be a life changing role. Thus far, I have had the humble privilege of establishing a multinational company's corporate communications department from ground zero. The role brought me across continents to Africa, Middle East and Asia as the company has presence in 27 countries, with it, a deep sense of fulfilment. Within two and a half years, the department grew from a one-woman show into a team of three, managing all forms of internal and external communications, diplomatic relations, and we strongly worked together with the in-house marketing team. Currently, I am part of the team that deals with service offerings within the areas of risk, processes, governance and compliance.
What do you love the most about your job?
The sense of fulfilment, the ability to solve problems, the feeling that engulfs me when the team delivers above and beyond, the camaraderie of the team to pull a project through together - the list could go on and on.
