Library and IT services
The University’s Pilkington Library provides a range of services to support students through their academic journey. We can offer various learning environments, access to high quality information resources and support for you to develop your skills.
Our University library is spread across four storeys, making it the largest open access study space on campus.
It features an extensive collection of books, journals, specialist databases and online resources. Students can also benefit from 24/7 opening hours during key revision and exam periods, as well as 1,300 study spaces, 250 desktop computers, an in-house PC clinic and a cafeteria.
Information and Enquiry Service
Our library operates an Information and Enquiry Service where staff can help you with most queries about how to successfully find the information you need to support your studies. From booking study rooms, to problems relating to IT or borrowing items, our team are on hand seven days a week (hours may vary) to offer useful tips and guidance.
Academic Librarians
We have a fantastic team who provide specialist advice to both students and staff seeking educational-related support. They have all developed subject area expertise and can assist with academic referencing, conducting a literature review and publishing work.
Subject Guides
Subject Guides are a great starting point for finding information about a specific subject area. They provide quick access to key resources such as journals, articles and books that can help your studies. They also provide details of your designated Academic Librarian who has carefully selected all of these resources for you.
PC Clinic
Based on the Ground Floor of the Pilkington Library, the PC clinic is open weekdays from 10:00 – 17:00 and is staffed by IT experts who can provide advice and assistance on a wide range of technical issues. These include connecting your devices to the campus networks, connecting to the University printers, accessing your files on OneDrive, and support with software installation issues.
Microsoft Office
If you choose to study at º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ, you'll have free access to the latest Microsoft Office packages including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, plus more. By using OneDrive you'll also be able to access your work through automatic device syncing, whether you are on your own device or in one of our IT labs.
Out of hours study space
At º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ, we have a a variety of spaces across the campus which serve as ideal study locations. Whether you choose the Library or one of our learning zones, including the West Park Teaching Hub, Haslegrave, Schofield or the Edward Herbert Building, there is always somewhere for students to study independently and collaboratively.
