WPL 2.10 Bio Projects laboratory
Overview
The Bio-Projects Laboratory is complimentary to the Bioscience and Bioengineering Laboratory and may be used on its own or in conjunction with the main laboratories. It is ideally suited to experiments which are mainly performed entirely within Bio-Safety cabinets.
This lab can be used for project activities.
What we teach
This lab are primarily used by students from the following subject areas: Chemistry, Bioengineering, Chemical Engineering, Biosciences, Natural Sciences and Foundation (dependent on pathway).
What you learn
Using the equipment in this lab, you can:
- Learn and use aseptic cell culture techniques
- Measure end point and kinetic absorbance, luminescence and fluorescence intensity
- Perform microscopic imaging/capturing of fluorescent cells/ligands with fluorescence microscopes

- Cell Culture Incubators x 2
- BMG LabTech FLUOstar Omega multi- mode plate reader x4
- BMG LabTech CLARIOstar multi-mode plate reader x1
- EVOS FLoid Imaging System (Fluorescence microscopes) x4
- Countess 3 Automated Cell Counter x5
