Ashleigh Day
Geography Teacher
Geography matters because it links to every single thing that we do.
From looking outside year on year and noticing that the climate is changing, to why certain businesses and countries have better global links than others. You cannot go a day in your life without experiencing Geography, and to understand how what’s happening around you works, and why it does so, is truly satisfying.
Post 16 Education: AS Level Physics; A Levels Geography, Biology & Maths
Higher Education: BSc (Hons) Geography; Professional Graduate Diploma in Education (PGDE)
Why did you choose Geography?
I really enjoyed that Geography was so diverse; from learning about conflict in Israel/Palestine, to global warming and climate change. I always loved that Geography felt so relevant to my life experiences as well as current affairs globally.
What is Geography about?
Geography is the study of the world. It allows you to look at key social, environmental, economic and political issues, both historically and currently.
Ashleigh’s experience as a student
Studying at university was an experience like no other.
Not only did it develop my knowledge and understanding, but I felt that it gave me the life skills and experiences I needed. I also made excellent friendships that are still with me today.
Ashleigh’s Career
I am in my 5th year as a qualified Geography Teacher, as well as Head of Year 9.
Ashleigh's advice
Do what you love. If you enjoy what you’re doing, you are more likely to put the time and effort in to it that’s required, and you will do better.
