Library
The University Library offers a range of services that you can access during your time at º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ. We are committed to providing excellent customer service, a range of learning environments, access to high quality information resources, and opportunities for you to develop your skills.
An information and enquiry service
The Library offers an information and enquiry service where staff help with queries about how to successfully find the information you need to support your studies. Our team is available in the building seven days a week during term time and also answer our popular 'Ask a Librarian' email service.
Academic Librarians
Our Academic Librarians offer specialist advice on discovering, evaluating and managing information, as well as other related research skills, such as conducting a literature review and referencing. They have expertise in the subject areas of their Schools, often teaching within your modules, and are always happy to help with any enquiries you might have.
Resources for your studies
Every module you study will have a reading list attached to it. This will contain a list of books and articles you can read to expand your knowledge on the subject. Often the content will be in the form of an e-book or online journal, which makes accessing the information easy wherever you are studying. We also have a whole host of specialist databases that give you access to peer-reviewed, subject specific information that is high quality and up to date.
Only have a quick 15 minutes to pick up some books? Take a look at our online catalogue to see what is on the shelf and where it's located in the Library. If the resource you need isn't available straight away, don't worry - you can also request the item be returned, and the current borrower is contacted and asked to return the resource.
Subject guides
Subject guides are a starting point for finding information in a specific subject area. They provide quick access to key resources for finding journal articles, books and other information for your studies. They also provide help and details of your Academic Librarian, who has carefully selected all these resources for you.
Studying in the Library
The Library has a wide range of study spaces and environments, so you will be able to find something that suits you – whether it’s using one of the many open access PCs throughout the Library, a space in the Silent Study area on Level 4, or in the buzz of the entrance level. We have a range of bookable spaces throughout the Library: study carrels on the lower floors for extra quiet, bookable booths on Level 4 and Group Study Rooms on all 4 floors. You can also book individual study desks.
