5. Criteria for Progression and Degree Award
Students who leave the International Foundation Programme at the end of the foundation year without progressing to Part A of degree programme at the University will be entitled to receive a Certificate in International Foundation Studies, provided that they have accumulated a minimum of 100 credits, and achieved a module mark of at least 30% in all modules.
Where the progression requirements below are more demanding, students who entered the International Foundation Year prior to 2020 will need to satisfy the progression requirements outlined in the 2019/20 International Foundation Studies Programme Specifications.
To gain credit in any module, the overall module mark must be equal to, or in excess of, 40% and a minimum performance of 30% is required in all modules. In addition, different progression criteria exist for each intended degree level programme as indicated below.
If IELTS requirements were met upon entry to the programme, students do not need to meet the Academic English requirements below.
All programmes: Additional Progression requirement of 60% in the FYF901 and FYF902 English Language Skills for Academic Study modules (unless IELTS requirements were met on entry to the programme).
