5. Criteria for Progression and Degree Award

Students who leave the Foundation programme at the end of the foundation year without progressing to Part A of degree programme at the University will be entitled to receive a Certificate in Foundation Studies, provided that they have accumulated a minimum of 100 credits, and achieved a module mark of at least 30% in all modules. 

Where the progression requirements below are more demanding, students who entered the Foundation Year prior to 2020 will need to satisfy the progression requirements outlined in the 2019/20 Foundation Studies Programme Specifications.

To gain credit in any module, the overall module mark must be equal to, or in excess of, 40% and a minimum performance of 30% is required in all modules. In addition, different progression criteria exist for each intended degree level programme as indicated below. 

5.1  Wolfson School of Mechanical, Electrical and Manufacturing Engineering 

In order to progress to Part A of the BEng programmes in the School of Mechanical, Electrical and Manufacturing Engineering candidates must accumulate at least 105 credits and achieve an overall average of 60%. In addition, they must achieve 60% in their chosen specialist subject(s) and achieve the threshold in FYF010 Applicable Mathematics 1 and FYF011 Applicable Mathematics 2 as set out below.
