Reassessment charges

If you are offered Repeat First Attempts, or Repeat Second Attempts in a module as a result of a successful mitigating circumstances claim, you will not be charged a reassessment fee for that module, whether you choose to take your repeat attempt with or without attendance.

If you opt to take resit(s) in a module you will be charged a fee. The fee will depend on whether you take the resit “with attendance” – in which you have decided to take the module again and attend timetabled classes, or “without attendance” – in which you have decided not to attend classes and only submit your assessments.
Please note that with/without attendance does not refer to whether or not you attended an exam.

If you opt to take resit(s) in a module without attendance you will be charged £5 per credit unit of the module. For example, for a 10 credit module you will be charged £50. This fee is the same whether you are paying UK, EU, Channel Islands, or International fees. The fee is the same for undergraduate and postgraduate students.

If you opt to take resit(s) in a module with attendance your fee will be calculated as a pro-rata of the full tuition fee for the year in which you are taking the module.

For example,

• you are paying UK fees and you are resitting a 15 credit module and the annual fee for your degree is £9,250. You will be charged £9,250 / 120 credits (£77.08) * 15 credits = £1,156.20
• You are paying international fees and you are resitting a 10 credit module and the annual fee for your degree is £15,000. You will be charged £15,000 / 120 (£125) * 10 credits = £1,250.00

Late Registration/Re-registration charge

You are required to register/re-register at the start of each academic year in which you are studying. If you do not register by the deadline you will usually have your registration terminated. Under University Regulation IX (paragraph 14) if you are permitted to register late, you will be charged a late registration charge. This is currently £100.

Late Resit Registration charge

If you are offered reassessment in modules, you will be required to register to take that reassessment and will be given a deadline by which to complete your registration. If you do not register for reassessment by the deadline given, and you need to undertake the reassessments to continue with your studies you will usually have your registration terminated.

Under University Regulation XX (paragraph 43) if you are permitted to register late for your reassessments, you will be charged a late resit registration charge. This is currently £100.

Field trips

Some courses provide the option for students to undertake additional optional field trips. You will be notified your School of the cost of any field trip in advance.
