Other Financial Support
Other sources of money which might help you while you are studying.
Part time Work
Some students work part-time to help with their living and course costs. This can be useful source of regular, additional funding, but it should not be relied upon and it is important to ensure it doesn't interfere with your studies.
If you hold a Student/Tier 4 visa you should ensure you understand how many hours you are allowed to work and do not exceed that.
The Careers Network provides information on seeking part time work.
Emergency Hardship Loans
The University expects all students to have made adequate financial arrangements to cover the cost of tuition fees and living costs while they are studying, but we recognise that plans can change and unexpected situations may arise.
If you find yourself in financial difficulties, advisers in the Student Advice and Support Service may be able to help by providing an emergency loan.
The Hardship Fund
The University expects all students to have made adequate financial arrangements to cover the cost of tuition fees and living costs while they are studying, but we recognise that plans can change and unexpected situations may arise.
The University has a fund available to help students who are facing financial hardship and would not otherwise be able to continue with their studies. An award from The Hardship Fund is not automatic and awards are granted according to individual circumstances. Advisers in the Student Advice and Support Service will be able to help with your application.
