University support for your circumstances
The University has a range of services to support you through your personal circumstances.
The support services available to you include:
- Wellbeing Adviser – Each School has a wellbeing adviser who can offer advice to support you with a wide range of wellbeing-related issues, mental health, and barriers to education.
- Student Wellbeing and Inclusivity (SWAI) – SWAI have a number of specialist teams with the focus of supporting students through their time at º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ. You can self-refer and speak to an adviser who will help you to access the right support for you. SWAI consists of these main areas of support:
- School Admin Team – For guidance on engaging with the MC process, as well as other options which may be available to you (e.g. coursework extensions)
- Personal Academic Tutor – For academic advice on the impact of your circumstances on your studies
- º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ Students Union – LSU offer support and guidance on writing MC claims.
- Project/Dissertation Supervisor – For concerns related to issues affecting work on supervised projects and dissertations
In many cases, it will be possible to provide support to help address your circumstance(s) which should enable you to continue with your studies without further disruption.
If support has been provided, but your academic performance has been impacted by an unexpected and/or unprecedented circumstance(s) outside of your control, you may want to consider submitting a Mitigating Circumstances claim.
