Altitude Training
We have an altitude chamber which can mimic altitudes up to 4000m.
Training at altitude has been shown to have the potential to provide benefits such as increased haemoglobin mass, allowing for increased oxygen delivery and VO2max, which potentially improves endurance performance. There is also evidence emerging that training at altitude can have benefits for high-intensity intermittent sports.
We recommend a minimum of 5 x 1 hour sessions in the chamber. You can choose your mode of exercise (running, cycling, X-trainer), and we will discuss the appropriate exercise intensity and altitude and adjust this as we go, to allow you to complete an hour in the chamber at increasing altitudes.
During the session we will take regular measurements of your heart rate, perception of effort, and your oxygen saturation (using a fingertip pulse oximeter).
