Polo
Polo at º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ is a great way to carry on horse riding whilst at University, and our aim is to provide you with a great social and sporting experience. We cater for all abilities, so both beginners and advanced riders are welcome.
Athletic Union Club
Polo is a team sport played on horseback. The objective of the sport is to score goals against an opposing team, where players score by driving a small plastic or wooden ball into the opposing team’s goal. This is done by using a long-handled mallet. Each polo team consists of four riders and their mounts.
Our club is open to anyone, and no riding experience is necessary. Throughout the year there are 3 main tournaments, which are attended by universities from across the UK to become the national champions. These are great weekends with lots of socialising between universities. Alongside these tournaments we have inter-club and varsity matches, so there are lots of opportunities for members to represent º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ!We also enter many other tournaments and friendlies throughout the year so there is always an opportunity to compete.
Number of teams
We typically have 3 to 4 teams from complete beginners through to more experienced. Every tournament is divided depending on experience, allowing everyone that wants to an opportunity to play in matches
Training frequency
We train at Leadenham Polo Club, located 50 minutes from º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ. Each group travels to the venue together and petrol is covered by the club.
