Athletic Union Club

º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ Students Lifesaving Club is a friendly, mixed ability club with both Performance and Development Squads. We cater for all abilities, with members who have previously never heard of the sport, to athletes competing on the international stage. We also have a strong social scene with great themes and great people that builds a fantastic atmosphere within the club.

We are a fun, welcoming club that train together multiple times per week. We do 'dry' training as well as 'wet' training. Our dry training consists of 'SERCS'- emergency scenarios that are set up where other members of the club act out an injury each and a team of 4 (a captain and 3 team mates) enter the room and aim to treat each casualty correctly and within the time limit. The wet training consists of 'wet SERCS' (the same thing as dry SERCS but in the pool) as well as swimming training. The swim coaches write swim sets for each session that involve normal lengths, lifesaving specific lengths (manakin carry, obs, warm ups and cool downs etc).

Lifesaving is a unique sport, incorporating both swimming events and first aid scenarios. If you want to experience an exciting new sport and be part of an extremely successful lifesaving club, then this is the team for you!

Number of teams

We don't have a set number of teams and teams can change for each competition and in training so you get to work with a range of people. The head coach and coaches will put everyone into teams of 4 according to capabilities for competitions.
