Coaching and Volunteering in Football
º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ Football prides itself on giving students a holistic sporting experience. We offer students the chance to look outside of playing sport to the many career opportunities there are in football.
Students are at the heart of our workforce and the opportunities to develop here are unrivalled. We prepare volunteers to go on and make an impact on the future game.
Coaching, Refereeing and Performance Support opportunities are all well established with support from world leading practitioners. The range of opportunities also includes roles within Marketing & Communications, Events Management and Scouting. Students delivering at the forefront of our programs across campus create a truly unique environment. Follow in the footsteps of our alumni working at the very highest levels of the game.
Event Management
The wealth of opportunity to lead from the front is open for all. Our volunteers have contributed to national and international events and we continue to recruit students to lead their own events or assist with entry level roles on the big stage. º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ Stadium has seen Premier League 2 football and UEFA International competition in recent times and the breadth of events continues to expand.
Officiating
Our approach to developing referees challenges individuals to be the best they can be. The support includes a strength and conditioning training program through Powerbase Gym tailored specifically for officials on the FA CORE program. We also offer one to one mentoring for individuals who have never picked up a whistle before, students can take their refereeing exams completely free.
Our women’s development program is delivered on campus by Leicestershire and Rutland County FA and nurtures outstanding leadership skills in our female students.
Coaching
º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ Football has 8 teams competing within the top tiers of British Universities & College’s Sport (BUCS) competition. This success is delivered by our student coaching workforce. Our volunteers are driving our BUCS squads and are driving the development of the game locally within our netowork of partner grassroots youth teams.
Whatever your level of experience you will be supported to pursue your coaching journey. Every year we run FA coaching qualifications including Level 1 & 2 and the FA Youth Modules. We regularly run masterclass events with our own staff and leading figures from the professional game.
Recent events include workshops with Kevin Betsy (England U16), Dan Micciche (Arsenal U15) and John McDermott (Head of Coaching & Player Development, Tottenham Hotspur)
Placement opportunities include coaching roles with Derby County FC.
