The Student Active Lifestyles survey is running throughout May to understand how we can continue to improve the sport offering at the University.
Whether you’re actively engaged in sport or not, we want to hear from both our undergraduate and postgraduate student cohort. The survey is an excellent opportunity to exercise your voice and influence the future of º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ sport and physical activity opportunities.
Completing the survey takes around five minutes and on completion you'll automatically be entered into a prize draw with over twenty prizes available to win:
- 1 x Apple Watch
- 3 x £50 Kukri gift vouchers
- 3 x Gold º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ Sport gym memberships
- 5 x £25 Flightgift flight vouchers (valid for over 400 airlines to over 980 destinations)
- 5 x £25 Virgin Experience Days vouchers
- 10 x £10 Costa gift cards
This is the second year the survey has been run and after last year’s results, a number of changes were made in response to feedback from students.
Expanded course offering
º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ Sport has introduced My Learn to Tennis and is working on introducing My Learn To Football, Boxing and Dance. This is on top of the current offering in badminton, squash, golf and cricket. This provides a great opportunity for students to try out a new sport in a fun and supportive environment.
Introduction of levels in Intra-Mural Sport
In response to feedback that there was a big difference in ability between AU and IMS clubs, a new in-between level has been introduced, as well as masterclasses with AU coaches to support those who want to develop their skills further. This will also create opportunities for AU coaches to talent spot players who have the potential to be part of the AU teams in the next academic year.
Training for committee members
º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ Sport has worked with the Coaching and Volunteering Academy to run a series of training sessions and one-off committee training days. All clubs are also assigned a staff member as a mentor to ensure there is professional support to help with any challenges.
AU club costs
All clubs are required to provide a breakdown of what is required to participate in their club activity and display this during the Sports Bazaar. They will also display information about the Opportunities Fund which can cover the cost of club membership for students who may need additional support.
Don't miss this chance to make your voice heard and potentially win big! Complete the survey today and help shape the future of physical activity here at the university.
