The competition took place at the University’s Dan Maskell Tennis Centre and brought together some of the world’s most exciting young players all vying for glory.
The tournament also provided º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ’s Tennis Academy (LUNTA) players with more vital experience of competing on the world stage.
In week 1 there was a strong British feel to proceedings with LUNTA’s Daniela Piani claiming the Girls’ singles title after numerous impressive performances. Fellow Brit Luke Hooper doubled GB’s success by winning the Boys’ side of the draw.
Hooper continued his fine form to win week two’s Boy’s title, whilst the Girls’ draw was won by Austria’s Lilli Tagger.
Nathan Miller, Academy Manager, said: "Partnering with the ITF to host international junior tournaments in Great Britain is a key part of the strategy to help develop British junior tennis players on the LTA's Performance Pathway.
“The tournaments bring fantastic opportunity for our players to climb the rankings and compete in matches at a relevant international standard.
“Hosting a minimum of five junior international tournaments a year at º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ has specifically had significant benefits to player development here at the National Academy. LUNTA players have won nine singles and 10 doubles titles at º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ-based tournaments in the past four years.
“I am excited to continue this partnership with the LTA and ITF to continue to host these tournaments in the future to give great opportunities to British players, and for players at the Academy”.
