George Bates’ squad are the current reining back-to-back champions and will be looking to keep their incredible record in tact for yet another campaign.
The Lightning squad returns with a couple of key new signings, including Worcester Wolves’ Kayli English. º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ will also welcome back a familiar face in Laurie Williams who rejoins the team following the birth of daughter.
Lightning are also thrilled to welcome back Netherlands international and Paralympic Games champion Bo Kramer who will also once again don the African Violet jersey.
It’s been nothing short of an incredible two seasons for Lightning – in which they’ve only lost one game – and Head Coach George Bates has high hopes for yet more º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ success for the season ahead.
“I’m really excited for the new WPL season. We’ve retained our squad and have a couple of exciting new additions from last season,” he said.
“The other teams have recruited well over the summer with international players, so the level of the league has certainly gone up. Our pre-season has been going really well with all the support services the players have access to here at º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ and the support of our main sponsor, Computacenter.
“We can’t wait to get started and try to defend the title.”
Lightning’s first two fixtures sees them travel away to Cardiff Met Archers on Saturday 2 December (Cardiff Metropolitan Uni, 2pm), before a home tie versus Worcester Wolves on Sunday 3 December (Netball Centre, 6pm)
