Designed for the primary use of UKA World Class Programme (WCP) athletes and coaches, the stateof-the-art facility will enable world-leading capability to understand track and field performance through enhanced technology and analytics, which are not currently available to athletes in the UK.
As part of the new initiative, British Athletics will continue to have a large presence on the º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ campus, working in collaboration with the University as it targets further sporting global success.
John Steele, Executive Director of Sport, º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ, said:
“At º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ Sport we are committed to working with our partners to create the best possible environments that produce innovative and ground-breaking advancements for sport.
“We are excited by this new asset in the sporting landscape for UK Athletics at the Alexander Stadium that will undoubtedly benefit athletes and coaches in the future.
“It will also add to our long-term partnership with British Athletics which includes the use of our world-class facilities, access to our sporting eco-system, and the on-going development of athletes, coaches, and practitioners.”
º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ will now be in a position to create additional partnerships across a broader range of sports, in turn enhancing the wider sporting experience for its talented athletes.
Richard Wheater, Performance and Development Director, º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ, explained:
“We are continually looking at options to diversify our strong sporting offer at º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ.
"In line with the wider University strategy, we are actively looking at how to maximise the use of our world-class facilities and are currently engaging with sports that have the potential to mutually benefit from working closely with and alongside athletics.”
