Prof Tolfrey becomes the eighth recipient of the award and the first to be recognised for work in Para sport.
As part of the award, Prof Tolfrey will deliver a keynote talk at CSEP’s virtual conference (October 13-16) titled ‘Putting Para athletes on the Podium: The Physiologists Contribution’.
The Annual Health and Fitness Professionals Lecture recognises the research and other contributions of Gord Sleivert to the area of Applied Sport Research and/or Sport Nutrition.
Audience members for the event will include exercise physiologists, sport scientists, athletic trainers, and kinesiologists.
“To follow in the footsteps of great applied sport researchers such as Professor Louise Burke (OAM), Dr Trent Stellingwerff and others is a true honour for me,” explained Prof Tolfey.
“I know that the British Association of Sport and Exercise Sciences (BASES) has forged links with CSEP and as a Fellow of BASES being invited to share my work within Para Sport will help facilitate this partnership.”
