º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ Sport Code of Conduct

What is the purpose of the Code of Conduct?

This document serves as the Code of Conduct for individuals using our facilities and engaging with º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ Sport activities. It outlines the standards of behaviour that is expected by all those participating in any activity or event within our sport

Who is this aimed at?

All users within our sports facilities and all activity associated with º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ Sport.  

Expectations

  1. ALL Facility users must have a valid booking and either a valid membership or have paid the usage fee.
  • All users, refers to, all participants, athletes, coaches, performance support staff, volunteers and anyone using our facilities. 
  • All º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ Sport members must be in possession of their ID Card or smart phone and use the Check in / out button, on the º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ Sport app, to access the facility.  
  • Pay As You Go users must be able to show proof of booking when accessing a facility/pitch 
  • Users must not ‘tailgate’ through reception to allow access to anyone who is not in possession of a valid º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ Sport membership.  

Users must not allow others to make use of their º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ Sport membership.  

  • Users must act with dignity and display courtesy and good manners towards all facility staff.  

Note: some areas on campus are designed to be ‘non bookable’ – this is stated clearly at the entrance to those facilities such as at Ball Park.  If there is no sign, then it is a facility where a booking is required. 

  1. Bookings are given precedence within the facility. When an area is reserved for a specific user as an exclusive booking, they are granted exclusive rights to that space for the period of the booking.
  2. All Pay As You Go users must pay prior to using the facility either at reception or online through the º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ Sport app or website. 
  3. Babies and young children, that require supervision, should not be taken into any office or training area. Access for events will be risk assessed on a case-by-case basis. 
  4. Refund requests of º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ Sport membership fees must be received in writing to sportmemberships@lboro.ac.uk or by completing the cancellation form on our website. All requests will be considered in line with our terms and conditions. 
  5. With respect to the premises and equipment, the facility staff exercise an on-going maintenance and inspection programme and therefore this facility is, as far as is practicable, in a safe condition for use by users. All users are asked to report defects, damage, or hazards immediately to the staff member on duty. Users are also required to accept responsibility for damage to, or loss of, equipment or other items which result from their negligence or misuse of the facility and its’ equipment. 
  6. All users of our facilities, when participating in activities, training/coaching sessions and competition events are expected to adhere to the following guidelines:
  • Act with dignity and treat facility staff and fellow users with courtesy and respect, recognizing that the facilities are used by people from a variety of different backgrounds and cultures.  
  • Avoid swearing and abusive language and irresponsible behaviour including behaviour that is dangerous to yourself or others, acts of violence, bullying, harassment and physical and sexual abuse.  
  • Always observe safety regulations. Users should be aware of safety procedures in relation to their sport or activity. 
  • Challenge inappropriate behaviour and language by others.   
  • Always put your equipment away after each session. 
  • Play music with consideration for others at an appropriate volume and without profanity or abusive language of any kind.  Ideally, in shared spaces such as gyms and sports halls with multiple users, music should be played through headphones to avoid disturbing other users. 
  • Wear appropriate dress and use the correct equipment for the activities being undertaken. 
  • Only use suitable sealed or reusable water bottles and avoid bringing food, glass bottles, cans, or unsealed cups inside our training spaces.   
  • Strictly no filming allowed in any changing room spaces.  
  • Abide by The University no-smoking policy for ALL buildings and sports. facilities.  
  • Only those with a contracted commercial relationship with º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ Sport will be permitted to run a business from our facilities.  No other users are permitted to charge for use of LS facilities.

    8. Media and social media 

  • All media enquiries must be agreed in writing by contacting the University PR Team, by email: publicrelations@lboro.ac.uk. All requests are at the discretion of º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ Sport and must be agreed in advance.  
  • All filming / promotions or photography, other than that shared between athlete and coach for the purpose of improving performance, requires express permission before filming takes place.  

Failure to adhere to these conditions will result in immediate cancellation of the booking with no refund.  

Any grievance or complaint will be dealt with in accordance with the university customer care policy Contacts and complaints | Community Information | º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ (lboro.ac.uk). Aggressive, abusive, or intimidating behaviour will not be tolerated and will be reported to Security if persistent. This type of behaviour could result in being banned from the facility.  

Any Exceptions to our Terms and Conditions will be at the discretion of the º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ Sport Management Team.
