Hall Sport (IMS)

Intra-Mural Sport (IMS) is a free programme available to all º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ students affiliated to a hall. It’s a great way to make friends, compete in a variety of diverse and inclusive sports.

How does Hall Sport work?

Hall Sport (IMS) allows students to represent their university hall in various competitive sports. The programme is run by student volunteers working closely with hall Sport Secretaries (Sport Secs).

Over 90 league fixtures occur weekly, with one-day events (ODEs) most weekends. Each hall enters teams and earns points based on performance. The hall with the most points at year's end wins at the IMS Awards.

Who can play?

Hall Sport is ideal for those who love to compete but want a flexible commitment. It offers a chance to play without the intensity or costs of regular training or travel.

Anyone can join Hall Sport, even if you don't live in halls. However, if you're on an Athletic Union team for a specific sport, you can't compete in that same sport within IMS (e.g., AU Football players can't play IMS Football).

Our leagues are perfect for those seeking competition, while ODEs offer fun opportunities to try out other niche sports.

How to get involved

To get involved in IMS leagues, you must speak to a hall sport Sport Sec about trials and tasters at the start of the academic year.

Each hall has four Sport Secs organising teams that participate in IMS.

To contact Sport Secs, social media is usually the best method. Each Hall’s IMS account can be found via the Hall Sport Linktree.

Anyone attending training sessions or part of an Athletic Union club can not compete in an IMS league.
