Simon Lyons has scooped the undergraduate prize at the national Santander Universities Entrepreneurship Awards - the third win for the University in this annual competition.

The Studio is delighted to welcome its third cohort of graduates – Andy Jones (Aeronautical and Automotive Engineering), Simon Lyons (Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering), Jennie Morley (Design), Ugonnaya Nwachukwu (Social Sciences), Ian Tricker (Arts), Emily Whitesmith (Arts), and Claud Williams (Sport, Exercise and Health Sciences). Their businesses span a variety of markets and sectors including the performing and visual arts, product design and engineering. We wish them a successful two-year tenancy.

Pure is being exhibited at the University of Arts in Berlin which is hosting this year’s DMY International Design Festival Berlin. The theme of the exhibition is: Do Good - What can a designer do for a better world? Designtransfer.udk-berlin.de. Pure is accompanied my many other products designed to improve quality of life.
Amy Allwright Homeware has today launched a beautiful website which showcases all of her wonderful products. Amy Humphreys said 'I am thrilled with how it all looks, i must give a massive thank you to a dozen eggs for being amazing and creating a lovely brand for me, Chris Pymm for his intelligent genius and putting it all together and Holly Booth for her beautiful photography and lovely location and to Meg from the Studio for being her continuous support and encouragement'
Tim wins two university poster competitions for his research into the design of products for developing countries. 'The first poster competition I won was for the º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ Research Conference and then today was for DesRes (Design School Research Conference),“the poster shows the research I have been doing into the design of products for developing countries” Timothy Whitehead (2012)
Amy of Amy Allright Homeware has after months of design and sampling now completed her print tests ready to present to her selection forums being held over the next few weeks. ‘I am delighted with the prints, it is really nice to finally get the design onto fabric and be able to show the direction of Amy Allright Homeware is going’.
Tim Whitehead takes Pure to Abu Dabi for the World Health Care Congress– The Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre is the home of this year’s congress, promoting Health Care through Global Innovative Best Practices. Pure was asked to exhibit as an example to innovative healthcare technology. PURE is also a finalist in the INDEX Awards in Copenhagen: Design to Improve life award. This is a Danish based award and expedition to promote designs which improve life. The Award ceremony was on Thursday September 1st 2011 in the Copenhagen Opera under attendance of HRH The Crown Prince and Crown Princess of Denmark and all finalists work is now on a traveling exhibition until 2013.

I spoke with Ross about his plans 'I am developing the product and making lots of prototypes at the moment, it is really great that the design community have already picked up on my work and I am hopeing to follow up some interesting contact'. Fran and Jo of a dozen eggs launch their online shop, just in time for Christmas. They have also been asked by Prof Tony Hodgson to design the Christmas card for º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ Design School. 'We are really thrilled to have been asked to do this for LDS, we had a great time developing our range of Christmas cards and really excited about selling online' said Jo. 'It is very interesting how these things can happen', said Megan (head of the Studio). 'I attended the business plan awards and saw Francis and Jo present their idea to the audience. They instantly felt right to take on the job of branding the Studio, the girls have a real drive when it comes to their idea and of course when they said they were interested in becoming a member of the Studio, we encouraged them to apply'.
The Studio is taking applications from budding entrepreneurs who have graduated from º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ's School of the Arts and º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ Design School in the last year. Application forms can be completed online and will be reviewed by a selection panel, places are limited and selection will be made on a number of criteria.
