Carbon emissions overview
The University records and reports its scope 1 and 2 carbon emissions on an annual basis. The University has established a baseline for scope 3 carbon emissions.

Scope 1: are the direct emission that occur from sources that are owned or controlled by the University, for example emissions from combustion in gas fired boilers.
Scope 2: are indirect emissions from the generation of grid electricity consumed by the University.
Scope 3: are other indirect emissions that occur upstream and downstream, associated with the University’s activities and include procurement, staff and student commuting, business travel, ICT, waste disposal and water consumption and treatment.
