IT and printing
IT in the Library
There are 250 computers available in the Pilkington Library with the majority of these located on the upper floors. All the computers on Level 2 of the Pilkington Library are Macs and the PCs on Level 4 are higher spec CAD PCs.
Both the Pilkington Library and the London Library have a wireless network so you can connect to the University's network from your laptop or mobile device. You can check PC availability in the Pilkington Library and across campus below.
Short stay PCs
There are a number of PCs in the Pilkington Library that are designated for short stay use so are ideal when you need to quickly print a document or check your email. These PCs are usually located next to Library Catalogue PCs or near to a printer. After twenty minutes of use the PC will automatically log you out and you will be unable to use the same PC for the next hour.
Saving your work
Please remember to save your work on a regular basis. Work should be saved to:
- OneDrive
You should avoid saving work to the PC desktop as any files created there will be erased when the PC is next used.
IT Service Desk
The IT Service Desk is the central point of contact for staff and students seeking help, advice, and support for all IT related services.
Email: IT.Services@lboro.ac.uk
Phone: 01509 222333
PC Clinic
The PC Clinic is IT Services' face-to face service offering support for a student's personal devices. This service is by appointment only and is no longer based in the Library. Please contact the IT Service Desk to request an appointment.
Q: Do visitors have access to Library PCs/wi-fi?
Unfortunately, there is no way for external users to access the Library's PCs or wireless network. If you are visiting from an educational institution that uses the Eduroam network you should be able to use your own wireless devices if Eduroam has been installed on them. Any queries on how to install Eduroam should be dealt with by the IT support at the visitor's home institution as we are unable to support access queries on external devices.
Printing in the Library
The Pilkington Library provides basic A4/A3 monochrome and colour printing and copying facilities. There are eight combined printer/photocopiers (known as multi-function devices or MFDs) in the Pilkington Library. Two on Level 4, Three on Level 3, two on Level 2, and one on Level 1. All the Pilkington Library PCs are set by default to print to these devices.
Combined printer/photocopiers can be found throughout the London campus. In the London Library space, there is a combined printer/photocopier situated next to the self-service borrowing machine.
Before you print or photocopy you will need to purchase printer credits. Add print credits to your online account below and find out more about printing charges.
Copyright
Please follow the copyright regulations when copying or scanning material. Details are displayed on posters near the photocopiers.
