EDI
Equity, Diversity and Inclusion
Like the whole University, the Library is committed to making º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ a place where students and staff feel valued and able to realise their full potential. As well as being core to the University’s Strategy, Creating Better Futures. Together, equity, diversity and inclusion (EDI) are part of the foundations of the Library’s Blueprint and we are keen to improve our services, content and support to ensure that they meet the needs of our users and colleagues.
Whilst responsibility for improving EDI rests with us all, the Library Leadership Team has established a Library EDI Group to lead on our activities in this space. The Group has developed several workstreams based around the key areas of:
- Users: Including understanding the needs of our users, ensuring our spaces are accessible and inclusive, as well as promoting resources to improve knowledge and understanding of EDI topics
- Staff: Including supporting and increasing diversity in the Library staff community, supporting and developing Library staff understanding of EDI, as well as raising awareness and compliance in relation to EDI
- Content: Including improving the diversity of our collections and highlighting diversity within the collections.
The Library EDI Group consists of Library colleagues who are passionate about improving EDI and there are representatives from across each of the Library’s teams and services. The Group works collaboratively across the institution, linking with the University’s central EDI Service and other Professional Services, as well as relevant staff and student networks, learning from and sharing good practice across the sector.
Staff and students wanting to learn more about EDI can use the reading lists, subject guides and research repository collections that have been co-created with colleagues across the University and are arranged around the University’s EDI themes. If you have ideas for additional content for the lists or for the collections, please email library@lboro.ac.uk or use our Book recommendation form.
If you would like to know more about the current activities of the Library’s EDI Group, please contact one of the co-chairs of the Group:Kat Halliday or Helen Young
We are always keen to hear about your experiences and if you have any feedback about EDI in relation to the Library service, please let us know via library@lboro.ac.uk
