Updating your devices

Do not use unsupported Operating Systems e.g. Windows XP鈥痑s the vendor is unlikely to release any security updates to fix鈥痸ulnerabilities

  • Keep鈥痽our鈥痑ntivirus鈥痵oftware鈥痷p to date
  • Ensure your computer operating system is up to date with Windows Updates. For a managed machine this is done鈥痑utomatically鈥痟owever other machines or personal devices,鈥痚nsure you check and鈥痠nstall any updates on a regular basis.

A鈥痸ariety of devices can be connected to a computer network for example a fridge, printers, heating鈥痑nd鈥痺atches鈥痶hat could be hacked. They could also be used to attack other networks internally and externally鈥痠f not configured correctly.

  • Change default password鈥痶o a complex one
  • Restrict access鈥痶o only those who need it
  • Install the latest software updates to protect you鈥痺hen鈥痶hey become available
