Installing Duo app on a smart phone
IMPORTANT
YOU MUST complete these instructions in the exact order shown below.
The install will not work:
- If you abandon the steps part way through
- If you begin setup within the DUO app instead of the browser (see Step 1)
- If at any point you see the words Enter a bypass code
If any of the above happen, you will need to contact IT Services by phone (01509 222 333 - Mon-Fri 08:45-17:00) to complete the setup.
Step 1: Download the DUO Mobile app
Download the app to your mobile phone by clicking the appropriate button (App Store/Google Play) below.
**If you see a message telling you the app cannot be installed on your device, please contact IT Services to discuss alternative solutions.
Once installed, DO NOT OPEN THE APP YET. Proceed directly to Step 2.
IF YOU OPEN THE APP NOW AND TRY AND SET UP WITHIN THE APP, THE SETUP WILL FAIL AND YOU WILL BE UNABLE TO CONTINUE.
Step 2: Visit the DUO enrolment portal in a browser
Click the “DUO enrolment portal” below to begin the setup for your device. The page will open in your default browser.
IMPORTANT – you must visit the DUO enrolment portal on the same device that you have enrolled the DUO Mobile app onto, and not on a laptop or desktop computer.
Step 3: Sign into the DUO enrolment portal
Enter your º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ e-mail address and click “Next”.
*** DO NOT USE YOUR PERSONAL EMAIL ADDRESS ***
Then enter your password, and click “Log in”.
Step 4: Register your device
Click Get started
then click DUO Mobile (recommended)
Step 5: Enter your phone number
UK PHONE NUMBERS
- Change the Country Code to 44 – United Kingdom
- When you type in your number, DON’T INCLUDE the first zero
NON-UK PHONE NUMBERS
Select the correct Country Code from the drop-down list, and type in the rest of your number.
If your phone number is correct, click Continue, then click Yes, it’s correct.
Otherwise, click No, I need to change it to go back and update your number.
Step 6: Click “Nextâ€
You have already downloaded the DUO Mobile app in Step 1, so click Next.
Step 7: Open DUO Mobile app
Click Open DUO Mobile to take you into the app.
If you see another box with a message saying “Open in Duo Mobile” or “Do you want to leave your browser to open another app”, click “Open”.
Step 8: Allow Notifications
You have now left your browser and are now inside the DUO Mobile app.
*** IMPORTANT – you MUST allow notifications for the DUO Mobile app to work.
Step 9: Name your account
You will be asked to Name your account. Click Next.
Leave the account name as º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ, then click Save.
After clicking Save, if you see a screen showing 6 dots or a 6-digit passcode, you can skip straight to Step 12.
Step 10: Account linked
On the next screen, you will be asked if you want to Practice now or Skip – click Skip.
Step 11: Almost there
Click OK on this screen.
Step 12: Setup complete
When you see this screen, you’re all done. Where there are 6 dots on this screenshot, you may see a 6-digit code instead – that’s fine.
You may see a message at the top saying Account backup disabled. This is fine – the DUO setup has still worked correctly.
