Planned maintenance: Imago guest Wi-Fi service w/c 07 August

Notice of planned work and service downtime

IT Services will be upgrading the ‘Imago’ guest Wi-Fi service week commencing 07 August.

  • Monday 07 August from 08:00am – Service upgrade, no prolonged downtime. Please refer to the information below.
  • Wednesday 09 August from 08:00am to 08:30am – essential maintenance. Service downtime.

Similar to the current service, access codes will change on a weekly basis and will be available to University staff on the current webpage /services/it/topics/guest-wifi/.

Does this affect me and how?

Following the upgrade on Monday 07 August, conference delegates/guests/visitors may need to take action as described below.

Users connected to the ‘Imago’ Wi-Fi service at the time of the upgrade:

Users will be disconnected from the Wi-Fi network and will be redirected to the new Imago registration page where they will be required to enter their name and email address. They will be prompted to enter the weekly access code (available from the venue reception).

New users (not connected at time of upgrade):

New users will need to join the ‘Imago’ Wi-Fi network and enter details requested. They will be prompted to enter the weekly access code (available from the venue reception).

Users currently using the ‘Imago-Venues’ Wi-Fi network:

This network will no longer be available from 08.00 on 07 August. Users will need to join the ‘Imago’ Wi-Fi service and enter details requested. They will be prompted to enter the weekly access code (available from the venue reception).

Longer-term users:

Users should automatically connect to the upgraded service but may experience a short disruption as their connection disconnects from the old network and reconnects to the new.

What are the benefits?

The upgraded Wi-Fi network has the following benefits:

  • Increased shared bandwidth to the internet
  • A more robust and reliable connection
  • A dedicated user support helpdesk available 07.00 to 23.00, 7 days per week
