Hazardous and Clinical Waste

The University has a legal duty of care and responsibility for the correct and safe disposal of waste which means both Hazardous and Clinical waste must be safely disposed of.  Staff handling these type of wastes will generally have some knowledge when appointed to a post, and detailed training will be provided by the Departments/Schools.  However there are some general and specific Operational Control procedures which have been produced for site wide use by the Environment team which are there to ensure the University and its staff meet their responsibilities.  These procedures are also there to provide environmental protection where both the University and an individual can be at risk of prosecution.
