This workshop will explore through interactive exercise and reflection how we care for ourselves, not only on a physical level but in terms of managing our emotions, thoughts and responses.
Learn simple techniques on how to manage yourselves from the inside out.
Presenter biography:
Natalie Steel's varied career has included working in Social Services and in television. She has now dedicated her time to giving talks and workshops on self-development enabling people to find their true potential.
Having practised meditation for the last 25 years Natalie lives in º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ and works as a Chaplain and facilitates self-development courses at º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ.

Open to anyone of all backgrounds to learn skills of reflection that can help develop inner calm, clear thinking and personal well-being.
Using practical techniques based on the practice of Raja Yoga Meditation, this session will comprise short meditations (1 - 10 minutes) interspersed with short talks on how and why to practise meditation.
Meditations will be with music and spoken commentaries to demonstrate how it can be both exciting and innovative.

Let’s be honest, conducting research can sometimes be physically and mentally demanding! At times what you’re going to eat for lunch or dinner is the last thing on your mind, but taking a little time to consider it may make a big difference! Your nutrition can have a huge impact on your physical and mental ability to cope with stress and maintain good health; something that will ultimately aid your research!
During this workshop we’ll discuss top tips on how you can ensure you are fuelling yourself effectively during busy periods; provide you with some delicious and convenient recipe ideas and meal inspiration; and also bust some common nutrition-related myths.
Presenter biography:
Fran Baldwin is a qualified nutritionist with a BSc Nutrition from University of Leeds. She is currently studying MSc Sport and Exercise Nutrition part time alongside completing a placement with the º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ Sport Performance Nutrition team. As part of the placement, she provides nutrition support to the º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ Lightning Netball and º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ Men’s and Women’s Basketball teams.

The course will look at what assertiveness is, the links with self-esteem and the differences between being assertive and being aggressive. It will focus on situations where we need to be assertive and explore what it is that is stopping us from doing so. Finally, ways of improving assertiveness will be discussed, including a focus on body language.
Presenter biographies:
Katerina Flynn studied at the University of Nottingham for an MA in Counselling, worked at º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ Counselling Service for 2 years.
Diddy Elliott studied at University of East Anglia for MA in Psychotherapy in 2007. Have worked for º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ Counselling Service for 5 years and has been clinical lead for 2 years.
