Research Title: Investigation of women's participation in sports in Saudi Arabia
The project seeks to advance understanding of women’s sport participation in Saudi Arabia, in the context of the ongoing social developments and reforms guided by the national policy strategy, Vision 2030. Specifically, the project will provide a deeper understanding of women’s sport participation and experiences across three different generations and with reference to socioeconomic factors. It will also evaluate the current strategic plans implemented by the Saudi Sport Ministry regarding women’s sport and suggest further developments in this area. The research outcomes will contribute significantly to knowledge of the development of women’s sports in Islamic societies, specifically in the Gulf and wider MENA regions.
