Please call the press office on 01509 223491 to arrange an interview with Dr Michael J Grey. Bookings can also be made online at globelynx.com.
Michael J Grey is a Reader in Rehabilitation Neuroscience. He obtained a BSc (Physics) at the University of British Columbia, Canada and an MSc (Biomechanics) at Simon Fraser University, Canada. He was awarded his PhD in 2002 from Aalborg University, Denmark where he studied Biomedical Science and Engineering.
Dr Grey has held research appointments at Aalborg University (Denmark), University of Jyvaskyla (Finland), University of Copenhagen (Denmark), University of Birmingham (UK) and University of East Anglia (UEA). He joined º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ in 2023 as a Reader in Rehabilitation Neuroscience.
Dr Grey uses biomechanical, electrophysiological and cognitive psychology techniques to investigate acquired brain injury (stroke and traumatic brain injury) and rehabilitation. He is particularly interested in using novel technology coupled with assessments of cortical and spinal plasticity to inform and facilitate neurorehabilitation in people with acquired brain injury. For most of his career, his research focus has been on using principles of neuroplasticity to develop clinically feasible techniques to assess the state of the brain quickly and efficiently. More recently he has focussed on the assessment of sport-related concussion (SRC) with respect to pitch side assessment, development of better return to play/work protocols, and the assessment of prodromal dementia associated with sport-related neurodegeneration (www.scoresproject.org).
