Katelynn works with Dr David Maidment as a Research Associate on behaviour change in older adults with hearing loss.
Katelynn has submitted her PhD on challenging situations between coaches and athletes in performance sport, with a focus on selection and deselection, under the supervision of Prof Sophia Jowett and Dr Daniel Rhind. Katelynn received a grant to support her PhD research from the IOC Olympic Studies Centre for PhD Students and Early Academics.
Prior to her PhD, in 2016 Katelynn completed her BA in Psychology and Behavioural Neuroscience at Drury University where she played NCAA volleyball. In 2017, she completed her MSc in War & Psychiatry at King’s College London with her dissertation focusing on Personality Traits and PTSD in first responders.
Katelynn’s PhD focused on how coaches and athletes perceive and manage various challenging situations in performance sport, namely selection and deselection. In addition, Katelynn has also worked on various research projects that focused on safe sport, safeguarding, and the evaluation of coach education programmes for Safe Sport International, FIFA, and UK Sport. Her main research interests include the coach-athlete relationship, managing selection and deselection, safeguarding in sport, and behaviour change.
Katelynn is the head coach for the women’s volleyball programme at º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ and is a coach developer for the University’s Female Coach Leadership Programme. Katelynn is also an assistant coach for England U19 Junior Women’s programme.
