Isobelle completed her undergraduate degree in Psychology at York St John University in 2016 before gaining her MSc in Sport & Exercise Psychology at º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ in 2017. Following this, Isobelle obtained her PhD from Northumbria University, which explored the conceptualisation and management of mental health and illness in high-performance sport. During her PhD, Isobelle was a demonstrator at Northumbria University, teaching undergraduate students about topics related to psychology, sport psychology, sport development, sociology, research methods, and professional development.
Between 2020 and 2022, Isobelle worked as a trainee sport psychologist at Changing Minds UK. During this time, Isobelle developed her applied practice of psychology in multiple sport and corporate environments, including British Cycling, England Netball, Wolverhampton Football Academy, and Worldline. Isobelle uses her research and applied experience in her teaching.
Isobelle’s research focuses on the conceptualisation and experience of mental health and illness, especially in unique cultures (e.g., high-performance sport). Isobelle has experience using both quantitative and qualitative research methods, and is particularly interested in the use of qualitative research methods to enhance our understanding of mental health and illness.
