Ash Casey earned a BSc in Sport Studies at the West London Institute of Higher Education (1990-1993) and a Graduate Certificate in Education in Physical Education at Brunel University College (1995-1996). Afterwards, he taught in a secondary school in Yorkshire for thirteen years (1996-2009) while pursuing part-time postgraduate studies.

In 2004, Ash completed a part-time MSc in Physical Education at º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ and embarked on a PhD in Physical Education and Sport Pedagogy at Leeds Metropolitan University in early 2005. He conducted his research as a teacher, examining his evolution from a teacher-led to a student-centred practitioner using pedagogical models such as cooperative learning, teaching games for understanding, and sport education.

In 2009, Ash began his first lecturing position at the University of Bedfordshire (2009-2014) and successfully obtained his PhD in January 2010. During his time at Bedfordshire, he served as the course leader for undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. In March 2014, Ash joined the School of Sport, Exercise and Health Sciences at º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ. Currently, he is the Programme Director for the MSc and PGCE in Education with QTS (Physical Education). Ash maintains an active presence on Twitter (@DrAshCasey) and operates a blog (www.PEPRN.com), dedicated to translating research into practical applications.

Ash Casey’s research interests are in Models-based Practice, teacher professional development and learning, and the use of technology and social media in teacher development and student learning. Ash is the series editor for the 'Routledge Focus on Sport Pedagogy', has co-authored/edited four monographs and over 100 peer-reviewed papers, book chapters and conference presentations.
