Amy graduated from the University of Birmingham in 2013 with a BSc in Sport and Exercise Sciences. Following this, Amy worked for three years at the Institute of Sport, Exercise and Health, and University College Hospitals of London NHS Trust, conducting over 500 cardiopulmonary exercise tests in clinical populations. During this time, Amy taught the principles of exercise testing to physicians and students.
In 2016, Amy began her PhD at º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ, sponsored by the National Centre for Sport and Exercise Medicine and University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust. Her thesis is titled ‘Combined exercise-based rehabilitation for adults with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and/or chronic heart failure’. Whilst Amy was undertaking her PhD, she gained varied teaching experience and co-supervised students, which resulted in her successfully gaining Associate Fellow status of the Higher Education Academy. Following her PhD, Amy worked as a Research Associate at the University of Leicester, collaborating with international research teams; this created further opportunities to develop her mentoring and teaching skills.
Amy joined º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ in the Spring of 2021 as a University Teacher, on the Clinical Exercise Physiology MSc programme and was awarded Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy in 2022.
Amy’s research interests lie within exercise-based rehabilitation for adults with chronic disease.
