Sue Anstiss MBE
Sue has been driving change in sport for over 30 years. For 27 years she ran a multi award-winning sports PR agency which had a momentous impact on grassroots participation in the UK, raising profile of hundreds of organisations and brands including sports teams, NGBs, leisure operators, events and charities, all with the goal to get people healthy and active. Sue also dedicated resource to pro bono activity that supported charitable organisations in sport and fitness. Sue is now CEO of Fearless Women, and a passionate activist for equality in women’s sport.
A founding trustee of the Women’s Sport Trust and co-founder of the Women’s Sport Collective – a network for all women working in sport – in 2018 Sue received an MBE for her services to grassroots and women’s sport. In 2019 she launched The Game Changers podcast, which celebrates and amplifies the stories of trailblazing women in sport. The podcast scooped bronze for Best Sport podcast at the British Podcast Awards in 2020.
Sue’s book ‘Game On: The Unstoppable Rise of Women’s Sport’ was published in 2021, drawing on her own experiences and interviews with high profile Olympic and Paralympic champions, broadcasters, sports scientists, CEOs, officials and sponsors. Longlisted in the prestigious William Hill Sports Book of the Year Awards the book is a manifesto for women’s sport – a rallying cry to ensure the progress we are currently seeing continues.
Sue also holds several voluntary positions with organisations in sport. She is a member of the RFU’s Diversity and Inclusion Advisory Group and, having been Chair of Get Berkshire Active, is now a Trustee of Leisure Focus, a charity running leisure facilities in Berkshire. Sue is also a Director of Lewes FC, currently the only football club in the world to equally invest in its male and female teams.
A member of Sport England’s women in coaching taskforce, Sue regularly speaks at universities and schools, sharing engaging presentations about why equality in women’s sport matters for everyone in society and how we can all drive change. In 2021 she was nominated for a Changemaker Award in the Sunday Times Sportswomen of the Year Awards.
