The highly prized accolade is awarded to the best original theoretical or conceptual advance and significant unpublished contribution in sport management.
This year, and Xiuqi Zhu – both PhD students at º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ’s School of Sport, Exercise and Health Sciences (SSEHS) – and Dr Eddie Mighten, a teaching fellow at º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ London, are among the forerunners.
Dr Elisavet Manoli, who supervised both PhDs, said: “This is the most prestigious conference in sport management in Europe, if not worldwide. We are proud of all three º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ candidates and wish them all luck".
Sungkyung Kim has now passed his viva and will soon be graduating. His research examines the value of the use of public relations at the Tokyo Olympic Games.
Xiuqi Zhu is about to submit her thesis. She looks into eSports events spectators and the service quality of eSports Events.
Dr Eddie Mighten researches authority, authenticity and sincerity within (professional) football leadership.
At the same conference, Barrie Houlihan, an emeritus professor at SSEHS, will receive the Chelladurai Award 2022 for his outstanding professional achievements.
